NURSING JOB:

Question:

Will I Lose my Nursing Job?

I was out with a friend and we got into a fight.  I ended up hitting her.  She said she wouldn't press charges, but subsequently did.  I am a nurse and I'm obviously worried I will lose my job over this.  My question is could I lose my nursing job over this?

Answer:

Yes, you can lose your job. Doctors take an oath of "do no harm." The same goes for nurses. On top of this, now you have a police record on file. Most employers will be looking at that police record and wonder if you are mentally stable enough to care for patients. They are also looking at you as a risk employee because you lost your temper and hit someone. See if you can get the charges dismissed or get an attorney to help you out of this mess.

TRAVELING WITH BABY:

Question:

Can I Travel out of the Country with my Baby Without my Husband's Consent?

I'd like to know if I need my husband's permission to take my baby to another country.  My husband and I are from another country, but we are living in the United States on a student visa.  I plan on going back to my country, but my husband will be staying here.  My question is do I need to get his permission to take my baby back to my country?

Answer:

Yes.  You definitely need his permission especially if you have joint custody of the child in a divorce settlement. The best thing to do is to talk to him and see if he minds you taking the child to another country. If you're not divorced and mutually agree then there shouldn't be any problem.  It's just a legal stipulation.  If you're not divorced, then you will need his signature on the passport. Most parents fear this type of thing, because they are afraid that the child won't be coming back.

MOVING TO ANOTHER STATE:

Question:

I plan on moving to another state soon and wanted to know if I have to take the moving company's estimate or can I get them to work with me?

Answer:

Most people don't realize that they can negotiate the moving company's price when it comes to long haul moving to another state.  In fact, you can call several moving companies and get their quotes on what it will cost you to move.  You are under no obligation to choose or contract with that moving company until you decide which is the best for you.  Remember, these are just quotes and not firm prices.

If you want to get the price down,  you can tell them that another company has given you a lower price.  Good luck with your move.
